CNC Sprue Grinding Machine
Railway Wheels are produced using bottom pouring casting technique. While producing wheels using this technique, rampant projections are kept on the plate area of wheel to cater the material requirement during the solidification process. These rampant projections are called Sprue. These sprues are required to be removed at a temperature of 6000C. when the solidification process is completed. Presently, these sprues are removed manually using the gouging process. Complete solution is worked out from concept stage to remove these sprues using CNC controlled heavy duty grinding process. Grinding operation is carried out at temperature of 450 to 6000C. Material to the tune of about 6 Kg. is removed within 6 minutes including the loading and unloading of rail wheel. Entire process and the machine is unique of its kind. Integrated solution is worked out including the wheel handling system, to give completely controlled automated process.
